Thoughts, no. 134

Where the equator crosses the prime meridian, at nought degrees and nought degrees, there is nothing but deep water in the Gulf of Guinea and one weather buoy, Station 13010, which its makers named Soul. Mapping people call the spot Null Island. Whenever software loses a location and fills the gap with zeros, the point lands there: misfiled addresses, broken photo tags, runners who typed 0,0 to hide where they really ran. So one of the busiest places on many maps is a patch of open sea with a single instrument in it, quietly taking the temperature for everyone who got lost on the way to somewhere else.
