The Hawaiian pizza was first made, by the account of the man usually credited with it, in 1962 in Chatham, Ontario, where Sam Panopoulos, who had come to Canada from Greece, put tinned pineapple on a pizza to see what would happen. So the most argued-over pizza there is was invented by a Greek in Canada using fruit out of a can, and the one place with no part in it is Hawaii. Every fight about it is, strictly speaking, a fight about southwestern Ontario.
